I arrived in the United Kingdom over twenty years ago, carrying the same questions you may be carrying now — about documents, about timing, about whether the system would treat me fairly.

It did, eventually. But the path to settlement was longer and more anxious than it needed to be, and I made it through largely because friends gave me their time and their knowledge for free.

After I settled, I started returning the favour. Friends of friends would come to me with their cases — a spouse visa here, a citizenship application there. Word travelled. The applications travelled too, almost all of them successful, almost all of them prepared in my evenings without invoice or formal retainer.

Eventually it became clear that the people most likely to need this kind of help — careful, personal, honest — were the ones least able to afford traditional immigration firms. Be Settled is the answer to that gap: a properly regulated, founder-led practice that works on a subsidised basis, with the personal attention I would have wanted twenty years ago.

I take fewer clients than a firm would. Each case is mine from the first call to the final decision. The model is slower. It is also why the success rate is what it is.
